Lots Of Us Worry About College Money
A college education is expensive, and the costs are rising every year. It is alarming. In 2007, the average tuition and fees for a private college is over $20,000 a year, and state 4 year universities average over $6,000. Even local 2 year colleges cost over $2,000 a year. Thise figures are 5 – 6 percent higher then they were a year ago, and this trend is expected to continue.
Of course, you also need to factor in the cost of living, eating, and paying for books and other supplies. So when you add in another $7,000 – $10,000, you are looking at a bill that is anywhere from close to $20,000 a year for an average public four year university for an in-state resident to well over $35,000 at a private school. Of course, students who live at home while attending a local college or take online classes may be able to trim their bills quite a bit.
Education Pays Off
However, I see that determined people from all economic situations find a way to fund their higher education. Consider all of your options to supplement your savings, including financial aid, grants, scholarships, and college loans. A majority of undergraduates find grants, tax credits, financial aid, or work study programs.
Also, studies have shown that people with college degrees make about $800,000 more, over their lifetimes, then their high school classmates who stopped their formal education at secondary school.
We are here to make the whole college funding process less complex, and more accessible!
